The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta

The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta has been held every year during the first week of October for the last forty plus years. It all began in 1972 when thirteen balloons were launched in the middle of a mall parking lot. It has grown over the years, so much in fact, that it now has its own customized home at the three hundred and sixty-five-acre Balloon Fiesta Park.

Nowadays, there are approximately seven hundred balloons launched during the fiesta and visitors can be in the middle of it all as they wander through the same field that the balloons are being launched in. This fiesta is considered the largest balloon event in the world and the largest international event that is held within the United States.

The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta has much more than balloons, so everyone will find themselves busy throughout the week. People can watch chainsaw carving, laser light shows, the Fiesta of Wheels Car Show, fireworks, and rodeos.

While people can purchase a regular ticket to this Fiesta, they can also purchase special tickets that offer a fantastic experience. A ticket for the Gondola Club offers a VIP experience with an excellent view of the launch field, private parking, gourmet breakfast, shuttle service, private restrooms, and a souvenir gift. The Chaser’s Club ticket allows people to sit on the private patio while viewing the balloons, a free hot food item, dessert, and beverages, and an option to purchase a cocktail while watching the balloons.

People are encouraged to arrive at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta early for both the morning and evening sessions. Morning guests should plan on arriving at five in the morning, while evening guests should arrive at four in the afternoon.

The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is a lot of fun and people travel there from all over the world to see the balloons. Once a person has attended this fiesta once, they will want to return year after year to continue experiencing all the excitement.
